بضع عشرات من البقرات المكتنزات ترعى في مرج أخضر في هدوء و سكينة. هي الصورة النمطية التي قد نتخيلها للريف السويسري . و هي قريبة جدا من الحقيقة لا يعكر سكونها سوى حدث مهم يأتي مرتين كل سنة: رحلة الشتاء و الصيف!
تعرف المراعي السويسرية دورة حياة منتظمة و طقوسا مغرقة في القدم يتبعها الرعاة و المربون لتوفير أفضل الظروف لقطعانهم. من بينها الرحلة الموسمية التي تخوضها قطعان الماشية , مرتين في السنة للتأقلم مع قساوة الطقس في الريف السويسري. تهاجر القطعان طلبا لمرعى مناسب. فتصعد صيفا للمرتفعات للتمتع بوفرة العشب بعد ذوبان الثلوج ثم تعود أدراجها نزولا عند حلول الشتاء لتفادي صقيع المرتفعات.
الصدفة قادتني أثناء إحدى جولاتي في جبال الجورا نهاية شهر ماي، لمشاهدة رحلة صعود قطيع صغير من البقر لا بتجاوز عدد رؤوسه العشرة. كنا و بعض مشاة نهاية الأسبوع من المحظوظين لمرافقة هذا القطيع لمسافة قليلة و هو يقطع الجبل صعودا منتقلا من مرعاه الشتوي نحو مرعاه الصيفي. راقني الجو الإحتفالي المميز الذي رافق رحلة القطيع الموسمية. كانت كل بقرة تحمل جرسا حول عنقها، مشدودا بحزام من جلد مطرز بإتقان. أما أجمل بقرات القطيع فزينت بإكليل من الزهور وضع فوق رأسها، يتمايل على وقع خطواتها. بينما كان صياح الرعاة يتعالى لحث البقرات على المشي قدما ، كان صدى أجراسها يتردد بين الجبال كأنها فرقة موسيقية تعزف أنغاما يطرب لها الحاضرون من الرعاة والمشاة.
يمارس هذا التقليد عموما في جبال الألب السويسرية و الألمانية و الفرنسية و أيضا في جبال البيريني و جبال الجورا. يشمل حسب المناطق قطعان البقر و الماعز و الخرفان. في الريف السويسري لا يزال الرعاة و المربون متشبثين بهذا التقليد بينما في أماكن أخرى حيث الرعي الكثيف حلت الشاحنات محل رحلات المشي لنقل القطعان.
تنظم العديد من المناطق و القرى السويسرية يوما رسميا للإحتفال بصعود أو نزول قطيع الماشية. يحضره السكان و الزوار. و يتخلله عرض للأبقار و وصلات موسيقية ومسابقات لاختيار أجمل المواشي.
