كانت هامبي عاصمة فيجايانجار، آخر الممالك الهندوسية الكبيرة. إمبراطورية عظيمة امتدت من الموقع الحالي لهامبي، إلى أقصى جنوب الهند. قامت الإمبراطورية بين القرنين الرابع عشر والخامس عشر الميلادي. و شملت في أوجها مدينة غوا. كانت غنية و إزدهر فيها البناء المعماري للمعابد و القصور. كما تحكمت في تجارة التوابل و القطن.
يحكى أن سبع أسوار محصنة كانت تحيط بعاصمتها. شكلت هذه الإمبراطورية لسنين عدة، حصنا منيعا ضد امتداد الممالك المسلمة المتواجدة في الشمال، إلى أن تعرضت لهزيمة على يد جيش تحالف بين سلاطين الشمال، من بينهم سلطان بيجبور، في غوا. انهارت الإمبراطورية بعد هذه الهزيمة و تعرضت للنهب و الإهمال. و لم يبق منها سوى الآثار الشاهدة اليوم على مجدها القديم.
أدرجت مآثر هامبي ضمن لائحة اليونسكو للتراث العالمي. تنتشر على امتداد ثلاثين كلم و تنتظم في مجموعات. الإقبال عليها شديد من طرف السياح و المحليين أيضا. لتفادي حشود الزوار، يستحسن تجنب الزيارة نهاية الأسبوع.
حصن زنانا Zenana enclosure
يعتقد أن هذا المكان كان مخصصا لنساء العائلة الملكية. يحيط به بسور و أبراج مراقبة. داخل أسوار الحصن، مبان عدة، من أشهرها “لوتس محل Lotus Mahal” و إسطبل الفيلة.
لوتس محل Lotus Mahal
واحد من المعالم التي سلمت من التدمير في هامبي. يذكر شكله بزهرة اللوتس. هذا المبنى مزيج من الطراز الهندي الإسلامي، و الطراز الهندوسي. يعتقد أنه كان يستخدم كإقامة صيفية للملكات و في رواية أخرى، كدار للضيافة و الإستقبالات.
إسطبل الفيلة Elephant’s stable
مبنى مستطيل، صمم على الطراز الهندي الإسلامي. يتكون من 11 غرفة متصلة فيما بينها بأبواب مقوسة. كانت مخصصة لاستراحة الفيلة الملكية.
في نفس الساحة التي تضم إسطبل الفيلة، مبنى آخر، كان مخصصا للجنود. بني أيضا على طراز هندي إسلامي، بأبواب مقوسة و حديقة داخلية.
سعر البطاقة: 500 روبية. يشمل اللوتس محل واسطبل الفيلة.
معبد هزارا راما Hazara Rama temple
كان هذا المعبدَ الخاصَّ للملك و حاشيته. رغم صغر مساحته، إلا أنه غني جدا بالنقوش. حتى أنه المعبد الوحيد في هامبي الذي يحمل سوره الخارجي نقوشا.
على جدرانه تحكي النقوش ملحمة رامايانا (أحد النصوص المؤسسة للهندوسية).
الحصن الملكي Royal enclosure
مركز الأنشطة الملكية. يمتد على مساحة شاسعة و يضم العديد من المعالم و الآثار.
المربع الكبير Mahanavami Dibba
بناء هرمي، علوه ثمانية أمتار. كان الملك يشرف على العروض العسكرية و الإحتفالية من أعلاه. تكسوه نقوش ومنحوثات عديدة . للوصول إلى أعلى المبنى توجد سلالم أمامية ، و أخرى جانية. يمكن أيضا زيارة داخل المبنى.
من أعلى المبنى الهرمي، يمكن أن تتخيل جحافل الجنود فوق الخيول، تستعرض قدراتها للملك و ضيوفه.
الحوض المدرج
للماء في الديانة الهندوسية أهمية كبيرة. للعديد من المعابد أحواض مائية مخصصة لها، تعد مقدسة و تستخدم في الطقوس الدينية.
عند تجوالك داخل الحصن الملكي، ستمر بهذا الحوض المائي المدرج، الذي كان يستعمل في الطقوس الدينية للعائلة الملكية.
كانت المياه تستقدم إلى هذا الحوض و غيره عن طريق قنوات مهيأة لهذا الغرض.
يفضل زيارة هذا الموقع في الصباح الباكر أو آخر النهار، لتجنب ضربات الشمس في الأيام الحارة. فالموقع شاسع و لا توجد أماكن ظل به.
حمام الملكة Queen’s bath
غير بعيد عن الحصن الملكي. مبنى مستطيل، عمارته تجمع بين الطراز الهندوسي و الإسلامي. كان على الأرجح حماما يستخدم من الطائفة الملكية، و لم يكن خاصا بالملكة كما يوحي بذلك إسمه. تحيط بالمبنى حديقة مرتبة، قد تكون المكان المناسب لاستراحة مظللة.
معبد شيفا تحت الأرضي Underground Shiva temple
يغوص هذا المعبد عدة أمتار تحت مستوى الأرض. مخصص للإله شيفا.
معبد فيروباكشا Virupaksha temple
أحد أقدس أماكن العبادة الهندوسية في هامبي، و قبلة العديد من الحجاج. مخصص للإله شيفا المعروف هنا بفيروباكشا (أحد مظاهر تجسد شيفا). يعد من أقدم المعابد في الهند، حيث بدأ نشاطه منذ القرن السابع.

لا يسمح بارتداء الأحذية داخل المعبد.
معبد كريشنا krishna temple
من أجمل و أغنى معابد هامبي معماريا. يضم منحوثات عديدة، و قاعات بأعمدة متراصة.
إذا زرت هذا المكان في نهاية اليوم، ستضفي أشعة الشمس المنعكسة بألوان الغروب جمالية على المكان.

يمنع ارتداء الأحذية داخل المعبد.

للوصول إلى هنا، يجب أن تعبر طريقا طويلة، سيلوح لك المعبد من بعيد في طرفها.
هذا المعبد مخصص للإله كريشنا.

بالقطار: أقرب محطة لهامبي هي هوسبت Hospet على بعد حوالي 13 كلم. لا توجد رحلات مباشرة من مومباي. من غوا، محطة الإنطلاق هي مادغاون Madgaon.
للتنقل في هامبي
يمكن التنقل بين المعالم الأساسية مشيا (حصن زنانا، الحصن الملكي). للمسافات الأطول، يفضل استخدام الدراجة أو عربة يد (تكتك).
يمكن تأجير تكتك ليوم أو عدة أيام حسب مدة الإقامة. يمكن أيضا تأجير دراجة أو دراجة نارية للتجول بحرية أكثر بين المواقع.
